Why a Streamlined Workflow, Well… Works!

Debunking the creativity in messy artist myth

People often ask us how we’re able to get so much high-quality work accomplished in so little time. The answer is simple: tried and true processes that allow us to run like a well-oiled creativity machine. Every project follows the exact same workflow,  and with only two quick phone calls and a few rounds of revisions, our team (and yours) are set up for success.

Here at Next Day Animations, we are firm believers that with a clear set of expectations and a streamlined workflow, amazing things can happen. When it comes to bringing our explainer animations to life, we rely on our systems to produce work that is creative, engaging and totally unique to each client.

To some who think of creativity as synonymous with late nights, stream of consciousness ramblings, and copious amounts of caffeine, this may sound counterintuitive. That’s where we’d like to debunk this age old notion that creativity is messy. In fact, we know that the opposite is true, and many great artists of our time back us up. Stephen King writes every day of the year, including holidays and his birthday, beginning at 8am, until he’s reached his daily quota of 2,000 words. Film and Television director David Lynch ate the exact same meal for seven years in a row. Dancer and Choreographer, Twyla Tharp concedes that her highly regimented life gives her the headspace to think in a way that is freeing.

In other words, using routines and well-defined workflows helps creatives work, because it allows us to learn from our mistakes, declutter our brains, and focus on the things that are most important. It creates structure and accountability to produce the best work we possibly can, in collaboration with our awesome clients. So if you’re looking for a way to amp up the quality and creativity in what you do, we recommend taking some time to establish healthy routines that will set those creative juices free.
